Summary

The Alarm Technician is a skilled low-voltage professionalresponsible for the installation, programming, maintenance, inspection, andrepair of alarm and life-safety systems. This role supports residential,commercial, and industrial environments and requires strict adherence to safetystandards, codes, and customer service expectations.

EssentialDuties and Responsibilities

1.      Alarm System Installation: Install,configure, and commission alarm systems including burglar alarms, fire alarms,access control systems, and related low-voltage devices in accordance withspecifications, blueprints, and manufacturer guidelines.

2.      Maintenance and Repairs:
Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on alarm andsecurity systems to ensure proper operation. Diagnose system issues, replacedefective components, and restore systems to full functionality.

3.      System Programming and Testing:
Program control panels, sensors, keypads, and monitoring interfaces.Conduct system testing, inspections, and verifications to ensure compliancewith code requirements and customer expectations.

4.      Safety and Code Compliance:
Adhere to all safety regulations, company policies, and applicable local,state, and national codes (including NFPA where applicable). Maintain safejobsite practices to protect personnel, customers, and property.

5.      Inspections and Documentation:
Complete inspections and required documentation accurately, includingservice reports, test records, and compliance forms.

6.      Blueprints and Technical Drawings:
Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technicaldocumentation to execute installations correctly.

7.      Troubleshooting:
Identify root causes of system malfunctions using logical diagnostics andproblem-solving techniques. Implement corrective actions efficiently andaccurately.

8.      Customer Interaction:
Provide professional customer service by explaining system functionality,addressing questions or concerns, and educating users on proper operation andbasic troubleshooting.

9.      Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with project managers, electricians, general contractors, andother trades to coordinate installation schedules and resolve field issues.

10.  Time Management:
Manage multiple assignments, service calls, or projects simultaneouslywhile meeting deadlines and productivity expectations.

11.  Continuous Learning:
Stay current with evolving alarm technologies, codes, and best practicesthrough training and professional development.

 

Position Requirements

·        Position requires extended hours, which willvary depending on job and site requirements. Each job will require its ownspecific hours of operation.

·        May be required to work evenings, nights, orweekends based on business needs.

·        Regular attendance is a necessary and essentialfunction.

 

Physical & Cognitive Requirements

·        Able to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly

·         Must beable to traverse job sites and work in various weather conditions andenvironments

·         Must beable to stand, walk, climb ladders, and work overhead for extended periods

·         May sitat a computer or use handheld devices for documentation and programming

·         Wear PPE(Personal Protective Equipment) as required

·        May be exposed to dust, fumes, and varying noiselevels

·        Regular attendance is a necessary and essentialfunction

 

Skills and Qualifications

·        Prior experience as an Alarm Technician orLow-Voltage Technician

·        Knowledge of alarm, security, fire, and accesscontrol systems

·        High school diploma or equivalent required

·        Applicable state or local alarm / low-voltagelicensing or certification preferred

·        Valid driver’s license with acceptable drivingrecord

·        Strongunderstanding of low-voltage alarm and life-safety systems

·        Familiaritywith applicable codes, standards, and regulations

·        Abilityto read and interpret technical drawings and system documentation

·        Strongtroubleshooting and analytical skills

·        Effectivecommunication and customer service skills

·        Abilityto multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a dynamic field environment

·        Familiaritywith construction and service-based work environments

 

Compensation & Benefits

Commensurate withexperience, paid weekly. The Company reserves the right to adjust rangesdepending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
