Summary

The Assistant Project Manager will provide essential support to the Project Manager in the planning, coordination, and execution of electrical projects. You will assist in overseeing the project lifecycle, ensuring that projects are completed within budget, schedule, and quality parameters.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Project Planning and Coordination: Assist in developing project plans, including schedules, budgets, and resource allocation. Coordinate with clients, engineers, and contractors to ensure project objectives and technical requirements are clearly defined.
  • Project Execution: Support the Project Manager in overseeing project activities, including procurement, construction, installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems. Monitor progress, identify potential issues, and propose solutions to ensure timely project delivery.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among project stakeholders, including clients, consultants, contractors, and suppliers. Assist in managing relationships, addressing queries, and resolving issues to maintain project momentum.
  • Documentation Management: Assist in maintaining accurate project documentation, including progress reports, technical drawings, specifications, and contracts. Ensure proper filing and organization of project files, drawings, and correspondence for easy retrieval.
  • Quality Control: Support the implementation of quality control procedures to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards. Assist in conducting inspections, testing, and commissioning activities to verify the quality of electrical systems and components.
  • Budget and Cost Monitoring: Collaborate with the Project Manager to monitor project budgets, track expenses, and review project invoices, change orders, and claims. Assist in identifying cost-saving opportunities and maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Risk Management: Assist in identifying and assessing project risks. Support the development and implementation of risk mitigation strategies. Monitor and report on potential risks to the Project Manager for timely resolution.
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations and best practices. Assist in conducting safety inspections and implementing corrective actions to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Progress Reporting: Assist in preparing regular project status reports, highlighting key milestones, progress, and issues. Provide updates to the Project Manager, management, and other stakeholders as required.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in electrical project management. Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement innovative solutions to enhance project delivery.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned by leadership.

Position Requirements

  • Position requires extended hours, which will vary depending on job and site requirements. Each job will require their own specific hours of operation.
  • May need to work weekends if business needs require
  • Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function

Physical & Cognitive Requirements

  • Able to lift up to 20lbs. regularly
  • Must be able to traverse in all weather conditions and work in extreme temperatures
  • Position requires the ability to stand, squat, & reach
  • Must be able to stand and walk continuously through shift
  • Must be able to climb stairs and ladders
  • Ability to exercise precaution in the handling of tools and equipment
  • May be exposed to dust, fumes, and odoriferous working conditions
  • Crouch, kneel, bend, or stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to sit at a desk for 8 plus hours per day
  • Be subject to motor or machine noise
  • Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function

Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum 2-3 years of electrical construction estimating experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or similar field; combination of relevant education and experience considered in lieu of degree
  • Must be able to pass a Drug Test, Background screen and MVR

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, codes, and standards.
  • Proven experience in managing electrical construction projects.
  • Excellent project management skills, including planning, scheduling, and budgeting.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and contracts.
  • Proficient in project management software and tools.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to address project challenges.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of procurement and subcontractor management.
  • Understanding of construction industry regulations and best practices.

Compensation & Benefits

Commensurate with experience, paid weekly. The Company reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
