Summary
The Field Service Technician is an entry-level positionresponsible for supporting field service teams in performing electrical testingand maintenance activities. This role provides hands-on experience in learningindustry standards, safety protocols, and the operation of test equipment,while working under close supervision and guidance from experiencedtechnicians.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· ElectricalSystem Testing / Troubleshooting: Set up, operate, and break down electrical testingequipment for field service projects. Conduct electrical tests such asinsulation resistance, continuity checks, breaker and transformer testing, andprotective relay testing.
· Guidance/ Troubleshooting:Troubleshoot electrical systems and recommend corrective actions. Accuratelycollect, record, and interpret test data; prepare and submit detailed testreports.
· ServiceCalls and Work Orders:Respond to service calls from clients or customers to address electricalissues, resolve problems, and restore functionality. Follow work orders orservice requests, prioritize tasks, and manage time efficiently to meetdeadlines and customer expectations.
· Compliance: Ensure all activities comply withNETA, OSHA, and company safety protocols.
· ToolsManagement: Maintaintools, instruments, and equipment in proper working condition.
· QualityControl: Ensurequality control for all testing activities, reports, and deliverables. Serve asan escalation point for operational, safety, and technical concerns, resolvingissues promptly.
· CustomerService: Interactwith customers. Act as the primary liaison between field teams, operationsmanagers, and clients to maintain clear communication and expectations. Collaboratewith operations managers, clients, and team members to ensure projectefficiency and quality.
· ContinuedLearning and Professional Development: Stay updated with advancements in electricaltechnology, industry trends, and regulations. Participate in training programs,seminars, or workshops to expand knowledge and skills.
· Allother duties as assigned by leadership
Position Requirements
· Position requires extended hours, which willvary depending on job and site requirements. Each job will require specifichours of operation.
· May need to work weekends if business needsrequire
· Regular attendance is a necessary and essentialfunction
Physical & CognitiveRequirements
· Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl,climb, kneel, balance, push, pull and reach overhead
· Lift 75 pounds
· Constantly moving on your feet for 8+ hours perday
· Climb ladders (all types)
· Completing overhead work for full dayassignments
· Must be able to make transition from employeeparking area into construction work areas and to gain access to all levels ofthe building, even if the only means of access is by O.S.H.A. approved siteconstruction ladder or stairs still under construction but acceptable for use
· Possess good vision (normal or corrected)
· Positively identify colors of wires.
Skills and Qualifications
· NETA Certification preferred but not required
· Previous experience in electrical testing,maintenance, or related field preferred.
· Working knowledge of electrical systems,equipment, and testing procedures.
· Strong understanding of safety practices andindustry regulations.
· Ability to read and interpret technicaldrawings, schematics, and specifications.
· Strong problem-solving, communication, andorganizational skills.
· Willingness to travel to job sites as needed.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
· Comprehends reading and drawing prints andschematics of same.
· Practices and comprehends safe work proceduresas outlined in Company Safety Policy Handbook, Haz-Com Policy, andLockout/Tagout Policy.
· Read and interpret maps, instructional manuals,specifications, work site directions, basic drawings and written instructions.
· Operate and work from mechanical personnel lifts(electric or gas powered).
Compensation & Benefits
Commensurate withexperience, paid weekly. The Company reserves the right to adjust rangesdepending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
