Human Resources Generalist

Summary

The Human Resources Generalist is a key member of the HR team responsible for providing comprehensive HR support and services to employees and management across the organization. This role encompasses a wide range of HR activities, including employee relations, recruitment, benefits administration, performance management, training and development, and HR compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Employee Relations: Provide guidance and support to employees and management on HR-related matters, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and performance issues. Investigate and address employee complaints and concerns, ensuring fair and consistent treatment.
  2. Recruitment and Onboarding: Collaborate with hiring managers to define job requirements, create job descriptions, and manage the recruitment process. Source, screen, and interview candidates, coordinating interviews and ensuring a positive candidate experience. Facilitate new employee onboarding, including orientation, paperwork, and training.
  3. Benefits Administration: Administer employee benefits programs, such as health insurance, retirement plans, and leave policies. Assist employees with benefits inquiries, enrollments, and changes. Liaise with benefits providers to ensure accurate and timely administration.
  4. Performance Management: Support performance review processes by providing guidance to managers, assisting in goal-setting, and tracking performance evaluations. Address performance concerns and facilitate improvement plans as needed.
  5. Training and Development: Identify training needs and coordinate employee development programs, workshops, and training sessions. Assist in creating and delivering training materials on HR policies, compliance, and professional development.
  6. HR Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations. Maintain accurate employee records and documentation to support legal and regulatory requirements. Stay updated on changes in labor laws and HR best practices.
  7. HR Projects and Initiatives: Participate in HR projects, such as policy development, process improvements, and diversity and inclusion initiatives. Contribute to the continuous improvement of HR processes and practices.


Position Requirements

  • Standard work week: Monday – Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm
  • May need to work weekends if business needs require
  • Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function
  • Position requires extended hours when business need requires.

Physical & Cognitive Requirements

  • Able to lift up to 20lbs. occasionally
  • Must be able to traverse in all weather conditions and work in extreme temperatures
  • Position requires the ability to stand, squat, & reach
  • Must be able to stand and walk continuously through shift
  • Activities like typing and using a computer mouse can involve repetitive motions
  • Crouch, kneel, bend, or stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to sit at a desk for 8 plus hours per day


Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • 2-5 years of experience in HR roles, with a focus on employee relations, recruitment, and general HR functions.
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification is a plus.


Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Strong understanding of employment laws, regulations, and HR best practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise good judgment, and handle sensitive situations with discretion.

Compensation & Benefits

Commensurate with experience, paid weekly. The Company reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
