Summary

The Journeyman will be a highly skilled and experiencedtradesperson in the electrical construction field. You will have completed arecognized apprenticeship program and have gained significant practicalexperience and knowledge in your trade. Your role will involve independentlyperforming complex tasks, supervising and training apprentices, interpreting drawings, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring compliance with codes and regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Skilled Trade Work: Execute skilled tasks and duties related to your specific trade. This may include installing, repairing, maintaining, or upgrading systems, equipment, or structures according to project specifications and trade standards.
  • Drawings Interpretation: Read and interpret drawings, technical drawings, and specifications to understand project requirements and execute tasks accordingly. Ensure accuracy and compliance with design plans and specifications.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols, guidelines, and industry standards to maintain a safe working environment. Promote and enforce safety practices among team members and apprentices.
  • Task Execution: Independently perform assigned tasks and projects, ensuring precision, efficiency, and high-quality workmanship. Follow established procedures, standards, and best practices, while demonstrating expertise in your trade.
  • Troubleshooting and Problem Solving: Identify and diagnose complex issues, faults, or malfunctions in systems, equipment, or structures. Apply critical thinking and problem-solving techniques to determine the root cause and implement effective repairs or solutions.
  • Code and Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant codes, regulations, and industry standards applicable to your trade. Stay updated with changes in codes and regulations and ensure their implementation in your work.
  • Supervision and Training: Provide supervision, guidance, and training to apprentices or less experienced workers in your trade. Share your knowledge, skills, and expertise to help them develop their skills and achieve competency in the trade.
  • Equipment and Tool Management: Maintain and care for tools, equipment, and machinery used in your trade. Keep them clean, organized, and in good working condition. Monitor and report any faulty or damaged equipment for repair or replacement.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of work performed, including completed tasks, materials used, time spent, and any necessary documentation. Prepare reports and updates as required by supervisors or project managers.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate effectively with team members, contractors, clients, and other stakeholders. Communicate professionally and clearly, and provide updates on project progress, issues, and resolutions.

Position Requirements

  • Position requires extended hours, which will vary depending on job and site requirements. Each job will require their own specific hours of operation.
  • TWIC card - (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) may be required
  • Ability to meet the cut score on the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) Skill Assessment

Physical & Cognitive Requirements

  • Able to lift up to 60lbs. regularly
  • Must be on feet on hard surface, such as concrete, for 8+ hours per day, on a regular basis
  • Must be able to traverse in all weather conditions and work in extreme temperatures
  • Position requires the ability to stand, squat, & reach
  • Must be able to stand and walk continuously through shift
  • Must be able to climb stairs and ladders
  • Ability to exercise precaution in the handling of tools and equipment
  • May be exposed to dust, fumes, and odoriferous working conditions
  • Crouch, kneel, bend, or stand for long periods of time
  • Work outside during inclement weather
  • Be subject to motor or machine noise
  • Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function

Skills and Qualifications

  • Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program in the specific trade (e.g., electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC).
  • Journeyman certification or relevant trade license.
  • Extensive experience and expertise in the trade, typically acquired through several years of practical work experience as a skilled tradesperson.
  • Thorough knowledge of trade-specific techniques, tools, materials, and equipment.
  • Strong understanding of relevant codes, regulations, and safety practices.

  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, components, and construction practices.
  • Familiarity with electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Ability to interpret electrical design drawings, specifications, and related documentation.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and precision in drawings.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills related to electrical systems.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Familiarity with electrical construction practices and terminology.

  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of procurement and subcontractor management.
  • Understanding of construction industry regulations and best practices.

Compensation & Benefits

Commensurate with experience, paid weekly. The Company reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
