Summary
As a Project Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to support the planning, design, and execution of electrical engineering projects. You will collaborate with project managers, design teams, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of electrical systems, equipment, and installations. Your role will involve technical analysis, design review, project coordination, and ensuring compliance with codes, standards, and specifications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Project Planning and Design: Collaborate with project managers and design teams to develop project plans and electrical design strategies. Contribute to the design and layout of electrical systems, considering factors such as power distribution, lighting, control systems, and safety.
- Technical Analysis: Perform technical calculations, simulations, and analyses to ensure the feasibility and efficiency of electrical design concepts. Verify load calculations, voltage drop, and system coordination to optimize electrical performance.
- Design Review: Review and evaluate electrical drawings, specifications, and documents prepared by design teams or consultants. Ensure accuracy, adherence to codes, and alignment with project objectives.
- Material Selection: Assist in selecting appropriate electrical components, materials, and equipment based on project requirements, budget constraints, and industry best practices.
- Project Coordination: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, engineers, contractors, and vendors, to ensure seamless project coordination. Facilitate communication and resolve design-related issues.
- Cost Estimation: Contribute to cost estimation by providing technical input on electrical components and systems. Collaborate with estimators to develop accurate project budgets.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure electrical designs and installations comply with relevant codes, regulations, and industry standards, such as the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local building codes.
- Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and maintain project documentation, including design reports, technical specifications, drawings, and progress reports. Document changes and updates throughout the project lifecycle.
- Testing and Verification: Coordinate with testing and commissioning teams to ensure proper installation, functioning, and performance of electrical systems. Review test results and verify compliance with design intent.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with advancements in electrical technology, codes, and industry trends. Participate in professional development opportunities and contribute to process improvements.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned by leadership.
Position Requirements
- Position requires extended hours, which will vary depending on job and site requirements. Each job will require their own specific hours of operation.
- May need to work weekends if business needs require
- Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function
Physical & Cognitive Requirements
- Able to lift up to 20lbs. regularly
- Must be able to traverse in all weather conditions and work in extreme temperatures
- Position requires the ability to stand, squat, & reach
- Must be able to stand and walk continuously through shift
- Must be able to climb stairs and ladders
- Ability to exercise precaution in the handling of tools and equipment
- May be exposed to dust, fumes, and odoriferous working conditions
- Crouch, kneel, bend, or stand for long periods of time
- Must be able to sit at a desk for 8 plus hours per day
- Be subject to motor or machine noise
- Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function
Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of electrical construction estimating experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or similar field; combination of relevant education and experience considered in lieu of degree
- Project Take-Off skills
- Use of estimating software (Accubid), and experience compiling bid proposals and bid review process
- Must be able to pass a Drug Test, Background screen and MVR
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, codes, and standards.
- Proven experience in managing electrical construction projects.
- Excellent project management skills, including planning, scheduling, and budgeting.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and contracts.
- Proficient in project management software and tools.

Compensation & Benefits
Commensurate with experience, paid weekly. The Company reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
