Summary

The QA/QC Inspector responsibility will be to ensure that electrical systems, installations, and equipment meet quality standards, regulatory requirements, and project specifications. You will perform inspections, audits, and tests to verify compliance with industry codes, standards, and project documentation. Your role will involve identifying and documenting non-compliance issues, coordinating with project teams and contractors, and ensuring corrective actions are implemented to maintain the quality and safety of electrical installations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Quality Assurance and Control: Conduct inspections and audits of electrical systems, installations, and equipment to verify compliance with quality standards, specifications, and applicable codes and regulations.
  • Inspection Documentation: Prepare detailed inspection reports, checklists, and documentation, including photographs, measurements, and observations, to accurately record inspection findings and non-compliance issues.
  • Compliance Verification: Review project documentation, including drawings, specifications, and contracts, to ensure that electrical installations adhere to project requirements and regulatory guidelines.
  • Testing and Verification: Perform tests, measurements, and functional checks on electrical systems, components, and equipment to validate performance, safety, and compliance. This may include insulation resistance testing, continuity testing, voltage measurements, and equipment functional checks.
  • Non-Compliance Identification: Identify and document non-compliance issues, deviations, or deficiencies in electrical systems, installations, and equipment. Communicate findings to project teams, contractors, and relevant stakeholders.
  • Corrective Actions: Collaborate with project teams and contractors to develop and implement corrective actions for non-compliance issues. Monitor and verify the completion of corrective actions to ensure compliance and quality standards are met.
  • Coordination and Communication: Coordinate with project managers, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to schedule inspections, address non-compliance issues, and provide updates on inspection activities and findings.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated with relevant electrical codes, regulations, and industry standards. Ensure that electrical installations meet the requirements of regulatory agencies, such as the National Electrical Code (NEC) or local building authorities.
  • Safety Compliance: Verify that electrical installations and work practices adhere to safety regulations and guidelines. Identify potential safety hazards and report them to project teams for appropriate action.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to the development and implementation of best practices for electrical QA/QC inspections. Stay updated with advancements in electrical technology and quality control methodologies.


Position Requirements

  • Position requires extended hours, which will vary depending on job and site requirements. Each job will require their own specific hours of operation.
  • May need to work weekends if business needs require
  • Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function


Physical & Cognitive Requirements

  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly
  • Must be able to traverse in all weather conditions and work in extreme temperatures
  • Will sit in a chair on a computer, at times, for more than 8 hours / day
  • Must be able to stand and walk continuously through shift
  • Wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), respirator, when required
  • May be exposed to dust, fumes, and odoriferous working conditions
  • Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function


Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven experience as an Electrical QA/QC Inspector or in a similar role, demonstrating competence in electrical inspections and compliance verification.
  • 5 years of experience as a Journeyman, Lineman, working on transmission, distribution and substation construction projects
  • Additional technical training or certification in electrical systems or quality assurance/quality control is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, installations, and industry codes and regulations (e.g., NEC).
  • Familiarity with quality assurance and quality control principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in interpreting electrical drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Ability to conduct inspections, tests, and measurements using appropriate tools and equipment.

  • Must be reliable and have a strong work ethic
  • Proven ability to work independently and without direct supervision
  • Good teamwork skills to work effectively with coworkers
  • Ability to communicate effectively to converse with employees, read orders and work instructions, and make accurate entries in the daily log
  • Basic computer or data entry skills
  • Solid experience using mechanical tools, materials, and testing equipment
  • Solid knowledge of design, adjustment, operation, maintenance, and repair of vehicles and equipment
  • Ability to follow posted safety rules and safe operating procedures
  • Good understanding of applicable regulatory guidelines and rules

Compensation & Benefits

Commensurate with experience, paid weekly. The Company reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
