Summary

The Service Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting electrical systems and equipment. The Service Technician will work in a commercial environment troubleshooting problems and helping with the installation of electrical wiring, equipment or fixtures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Electrical System Troubleshooting: Conduct thorough inspections and diagnostics to identify electrical problems in systems, equipment, or components. Use testing instruments and techniques to locate faults, analyze circuitry, and determine the root cause of malfunctions.
  • Electrical Repairs and Maintenance: Perform repairs, replacements, and adjustments to electrical systems, wiring, fixtures, and equipment. Replace faulty or worn-out components, repair wiring connections, and ensure proper functionality and safety compliance.
  • Service Calls and Work Orders: Respond to service calls from clients or customers to address electrical issues, resolve problems, and restore functionality. Follow work orders or service requests, prioritize tasks, and manage time efficiently to meet deadlines and customer expectations.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to electrical codes, regulations, and safety protocols to ensure the well-being of oneself and others. Follow lockout/tagout procedures, use personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary, and maintain knowledge of relevant safety guidelines.
  • Electrical Installations: Assist with electrical system installations, including wiring, panels, switches, and other components. Collaborate with installation teams to ensure proper placement, connections, and compliance with specifications and electrical codes.
  • Maintenance Contracts: Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and service on electrical systems for clients with maintenance contracts. Conduct preventive maintenance tasks, identify potential issues, and provide recommendations for improvements or repairs.
  • Customer Service: Interact with customers in a professional and courteous manner. Provide clear explanations of electrical issues, repair options, and preventive measures. Address customer concerns, answer questions, and maintain positive relationships with clients.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of service calls, repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities. Generate reports, work orders, or documentation as required by the organization or regulatory authorities. Update maintenance logs or databases to track service history.
  • Upgrades and Improvements: Identify opportunities for system upgrades, energy-efficient solutions, or equipment replacements. Recommend improvements to enhance the performance, safety, and energy efficiency of electrical systems.
  • Continued Learning and Professional Development: Stay updated with advancements in electrical technology, industry trends, and regulations. Participate in training programs, seminars, or workshops to expand knowledge and skills.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned by leadership.

Position Requirements

  • Position requires extended hours, which will vary depending on job and site requirements. Each job will require specific hours of operation.
  • May need to work weekends if business needs require
  • Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function

Physical & Cognitive Requirements

  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull and reach overhead
  • Lift 75 pounds
  • Constantly moving on your feet for 8+ hours per day
  • Climb ladders (all types)
  • Completing overhead work for full day assignments
  • Must be able to make transition from employee parking area into construction work areas and to gain access to all levels of the building, even if the only means of access is by O.S.H.A. approved site construction ladder or stairs still under construction but acceptable for use
  • Possess good vision (normal or corrected)
  • Positively identify colors of wires.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Must have a valid Electricians License (depending on location / project)
  • At least 3 - 5 years of lighting and electrical experience
  • Valid and current driver’s license
  • Must be able to pass a Drug and Background screen

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Comprehends reading and drawing prints and schematics of same.
  • Bend conduit by hand with hand benders.
  • Must use all power tools, saws, threaders, wire tuggers, hydraulic benders, and knockout punches.
  • Capable of digging trenches, either by use of hand tools or power equipment.
  • Practices and comprehends safe work procedures as outlined in Company Safety Policy Handbook, Haz-Com Policy, and Lockout/Tagout Policy.
  • Read and interprets maps, instructional manuals, specifications, work site directions, basic drawings and written instructions.
  • Operate and work from mechanical personnel lifts (electric or gas powered).

Compensation & Benefits

Commensurate with experience, paid weekly. The Company reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
