Summary
The Warehouse Worker is responsible for performing various tasks related to the movement and storage of goods within a warehouse or distribution center. They work as part of a team to ensure the smooth functioning of warehouse operations and maintain an organized and safe working environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Receiving and inspecting incoming shipments: Unload, sort, and verify the accuracy of incoming shipments, comparing them with purchase orders or other documents. Check for damaged or missing items and record discrepancies.
- Storing and organizing goods: Properly store and arrange incoming inventory in designated storage areas, ensuring efficient use of space. Use warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, or hand trucks to move and stack goods safely.
- Picking and packing orders: Retrieve requested items from storage areas using order sheets or electronic systems. Pack and label items accurately for shipment, ensuring they are protected and ready for delivery.
- Inventory management: Perform regular inventory counts and maintain accurate records of stock levels. Assist in inventory control by identifying and reporting discrepancies or shortages.
- Shipping and documentation: Prepare shipments by assembling appropriate containers, packaging materials, and labels. Load goods onto vehicles, ensuring proper weight distribution and securing them to prevent damage. Generate shipping labels and other required documentation.
- Equipment maintenance: Inspect and maintain warehouse equipment regularly, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, or conveyor systems. Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to the supervisor.
- Safety and cleanliness: Adhere to safety guidelines and regulations to maintain a safe working environment. Keep the warehouse clean and organized, ensuring aisles are clear and emergency exits are unobstructed.
- Collaboration and communication: Work closely with other team members, supervisors, and other departments to facilitate efficient workflow and resolve any operational issues. Communicate effectively to ensure accurate and timely completion of tasks.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned by leadership
Position Requirements
- Position requires extended hours, which will vary depending on job and site requirements. Each job will require their own specific hours of operation.
- May need to work weekends if business needs require
- Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function
Physical & Cognitive Requirements
- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull and reach overhead
- Lift 75 pounds
- Constantly moving on your feet for 8+ hours per day
- Climb ladders (all types)
- Completing overhead work for full day assignments
- Must be able to make transition from employee parking area into construction work areas and to gain access to all levels of the building, even if the only means of access is by O.S.H.A. approved site construction ladder or stairs still under construction but acceptable for use
- Possess good vision (normal or corrected)
- Positively identify colors of wires.
Skills and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience in a warehouse or similar environment is preferred.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects and perform repetitive tasks.
- Familiarity with warehouse equipment and tools, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
- Must be able to pass a Drug Test, Background screen and MVR
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Basic computer skills to navigate inventory management systems or other software.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in handling goods and documentation.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Willingness to follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work area.
Compensation & Benefits
Commensurate with experience, paid weekly. The Company reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
